Microsoft launches two new Copilot+ Surface PC’s – smaller and still powerful

Following the huge launch last year of the Copilot+ PC generation Microsoft is doubling down with two new Surface devices aimed at expanding the choices for consumers across the Surface range.

This year’s Surface Pro 12 inch and Surface Laptop 13 inch come in just an inch or less smaller than last year, but offer a wider choice across the range.

Available later this month, the new Surface Laptop is the thinnest and lightest Surface laptop yet, Microsoft say “crafted for portability, built for performance and enhanced with the power of AI”

Weighing just 1.22kg, the Surface Laptop 13 inch is 28.5cm x 21.4 and is 15.6mm thick. It’s powered by the Snapdragon X plus (8 Core) with a Qualcomm NPU and GPU, with 16GB of RAM and either 256 or 512GB hard drive configurations.

In line with the stunning performance coming from these new Copilot+ PCs over the last year, the battery life is outstanding – the most of any Surface, 16 hours of web use and 23 hours local video playback, and when online you’ve got WiFi 7 capability.

On the sides you’ll find a single USB-A, two USB-C and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Continuing the theme, the new Surface Pro 12 inch is also the thinnest and lightest – but of all the Surface range. A strong 2 in 1 form factor, it’s primarily a Windows Tablet, but with the keyboard accessory it really is all the use of a Laptop in a daily driver that is actually just a tablet, perhaps one of the most versatile devices out there.

With the same performance and memory specs of the Surface Laptop 13, it’s remarkable this thing weighs just 686 grams and is just 78mm thick!

You’ll get 12 hours of web use or 16 hours local video from the battery.

Both new devices go on sale May 20

The Surface Pro starts at $1,499, it’s keyboard for $275 – the new Surface Laptop will start at $1,699.
