Rugged, Reliable and looking good, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G has landed in Australia

OPPO have today launched their latest A-series handset, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G with a focus on premium durability, performance, and design.

Priced at $399, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G seems ready for almost anything life can throw at you. The phone carries a MIL-spec rating (MIL-STD 810H), IP69 dust and water resistance rating which unlocks a neat underwater photo mode, 5,800mAh battery promising all-day battery life and their fast SuperVOOC 45W Flash Charging tp top it up fast when you need it. 

OPPO Australia’s Managing Director, Michael Tran, said: 

“Our research shows that nearly a quarter of Australians (24%) plan to spend under $500 on their next smartphone. As our first A Series release of 2025, the OPPO A5 Pro 5G is a game-changer in this space, raising the bar for affordable smartphones with premium durability, performance, and design.”

Even with the ruggedisation, the phone has a sub 8mm profile and weighs just under 200 grams. The A5 Pro 5G will come in two colour options: Mocha Brown and Olive Green.

There’s a brilliantly bright 6.67” LCD display capable of up to 1,000 nits brightness to really make it easy to see during the day. For people who work or play outdoors, the display also supports Glove Touch, and Splash Touch so you can use it when your hands are wet, or in gloves.

There’s a Mediatek Dimensity 6300 processor, 8GB RAM with RAM Boost option and 256GB of storage, with that 5,800mAh battery powering the show. This all powers the AI experience including OPPO’s AI GameBoost which ‘dynamically optimises frame rates for different games to deliver an impressive 5-hours of steady gaming’, and dual speakers with volume boost to amp up your sound while playing. 

The camera system includes an impressive 50MP main sensor with 2MP monochrome portrait sensor, while on the front you get an 8MP selfie camera embedded in the display.

The OPPO AI is again on display in the camera, with AI image-enhancing features from their flagship series appearing on their A-series phones. The features include AI Reflection Remover, AI Unblur, AI Clarity Enhancer, AI Eraser 2.0, as well as AI Studio for transforming images into stylish edits and animated GIF
