Satellite Internet service Starlink run by Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket company suffered a worldwide outage this morning with millions of users unable to access the internet.
The expensive internet access service offers the possibility of internet anywhere with it’s popularity strong in remote and regional Australia along with those who travel the country in 4WD’s and Caravans.
Only in the last Month Telstra switched on their own Starlink integration offering SMS messaging when outside of Telstra’s coverage area, while we haven’t confirmed this, we assume that too is affected by the outage.
Starlink has acknowledged the outage on Twitter:
UPDATE:
Service has been restored after a 2.5 hour outage:
No doubt Elon will be on a warparth and lessons will be learned 🙂
