Tineco Floor One S9 Artist Pro Review – A rethink of the wet and dry floor cleaner

Gone are the days when you’d vacuum the floors then bring out the mop to get to any wet mess or dried in grime. Today, a single device can do it all. Last year I reviewed the Tineco Floor One S6, and today the company has come out with a brand new Series, the S9 Artist Series launching in a huge number of major retail stores across Australia.

Instantly, there’s a completely different look to this new model. Not quite space age, more modern would be a better description. But the re-design isn’t just about being aesthetically different the S9 Artist range changes the overall technical design of the whole system.

While the floor roller might look the same there’s a new system to capture hair, the water tank is moved and a new storage system for waste water.

A device like this can be used for a regular clean any day of the week, but it’s value is there when you’re cleaning up a real mess. Be that the kids dinner scraps on the floor around their chair, or a spill in any room. Wheel out the S9 from Tineco and you’re covered.

Of course, I tested this in the most simple way – I dropped and egg on the floor.

Honestly the sound of that egg going up into the roller and being cleared away was a little bit silence of the lambs, but it was gone – in one movement.

What’s remarkable about using this device is it’s motorised propulsion, it sits still but crank the handle down and push and the wheels get going to essentially support for the forward motion, but it also works backwards, so every movement is effortless. It’s like how an electric bike still needs you to pedal, but the electric motor makes it easier.

It also works when turning, so its a really simple thing to guide around a room.

One key difference in the Floor One S9 is the location of the tanks. The Water tank is now on the base on top of the roller, not in the handle. This is like moving the centre of gravity in a car, and it works just as well on this floor cleaner. The upper part of the device in the handle is where the Tineco motor sits, along with the waste chamber which has been designed to separate into three compartments, air, waste water and any solid waste.

Emptying this out is also improved – a new simple to use handle makes removing the filter far easier, but I will say you still end up needing to properly rinse the solid waste out of the device. But you do this also after the machine self-cleans when you put it back on the base. All that means, no smells.

That FlashDry technology uses heated water to clean it ready to go for next time.

The little digital screen on the handle is a bit of a gimmick, on the pro model there’s not many functions or features. If you get the Steam model there’s more to see and know about how it’s warming up and preparing.

It lays all the way flat – I just couldn’t reach down:)

For any furniture you want to clean under, in it’s lay-flat mode the Tineco Floor One S9 is just 12.85cm off the ground – so you can clean areas they might never get to otherwise.

Our floors felt smooth and clean after a thorough wash with the Floor One S9 Pro, and in reality, at

,299 you’re far better off getting this, than buying a high end vacuum and a device that mops.

If you want to step it up, the Steam model is

,499, and offers a sanitising steam to your floors too.

Works well, easy to use, not heavy to push around and one thing that really shocked me was how little water it used – It didn’t even look like I’d used much after a few cleans.

The new Tineco S9 Artist series both go on sale today from Harvey Norman,JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, Mobileciti, Tech Sales Online,
