The F1 Movie, an Apple Original Film, has been a massive hit for everyone involved, and with demand still high, it’s heading back to the best place to watch it – IMAX.
Filmed over a couple of seasons embedded into the actual F1 circus around the world, the movie kicked off at #1 on the box office and it’s $550,000,000 takings in the worldwide box office make it the biggest “original” of 2025, behind franchises like Jurassic World, Mission Impossible and Superman.
It’s also Brad Pitt’s highest ever grossing film.
Apple today announced that Warner Bros Pictures was re-releasing the film in IMAX due to popular demand.
We checked, and the Movie is still available to book at the Sydney IMAX and with very few films in the schedule over the next few weeks, perhaps Sydney will pickup more screenings as part of this re-release.
IMAX screens in the USA accounted for 23% of the films opening weekend takings, and 19% globally – so there’s a good reason to try it again.
Having watched it myself in both “traditional” and IMAX formats, I’ve gotta say, watch it in IMAX folks.
Matt Dentler, head of features, Apple Original Films says “Audiences around the world have embraced ‘F1® The Movie’ as an adrenaline-pumping, big screen experience, and its re-release in IMAX is a testament to the global popularity of the film,”
“Joe, Jerry, Brad, Lewis and the visionary team behind ‘F1® The Movie’ have delivered a summer blockbuster that blends heart with action, and we can’t wait to give moviegoers another chance to see it in IMAX.”
Jeff Goldstein, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Global Distribution stated, “With ‘F1® The Movie,’ audiences around the world headed to theatres in droves to witness FORMULA 1 racing like never before, and it showed at the box office. So, together with our partners at Apple Original Films and IMAX, we jumped at the opportunity to give fans another go-round—or to experience it for the first time—via IMAX’s premiere screens and sound, before summer is over.”
“Every element of ‘F1® The Movie’ — the visuals, the sound, the gripping storytelling anchored by larger-than-life performances — makes excellent use of the IMAX Experience, and it’s no wonder it’s our highest grossing Hollywood film of the year,” said Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX. “We know ‘F1® The Movie’ still has plenty of gas in the tank and audiences will come back again to experience it as intended in IMAX.”
