Netflix is just taking the piss now – Premium plan now $28.99 per MONTH!

Even Gen Z can probably start saying “remember the good old days” when Netflix was cheaper – oh wait, they’re probably still hacking their way around using their parent’s Netflix account even though they’ve left home. But seriously, remember when Netflix wasn’t $28.99 per month?

That’s the new pricing for the Premium plan which offers 4K content on up to four devices simultaneously. For the “Standard” plan you’re up for $20.99.

Add to that those “Extra member” accounts are now $8.99 per month.

Yes, you can save money and pay less ($9.99 per month) if you want to watch ads, but come on, this is getting out of control.

And there won’t be a march in the streets, because most people won’t even notice, they’ll just let their credit card keep being hit month after month.

The price only went up last year and that was a decent hike too!

Remember this:

This are officially the good old days. Netflix launch pricing ten years ago. $14.99 for the “Premium” before 4K was a thing.

The company’s profit for the second quarter of 2025 was $3.775 billion – that’s a $12 PROFIT per user already – globally, when is enough enough?

I don’t know why I bother to write these things, we’ll all keep subscribing – it’s how we do content now.

Here’s the New Netflix Pricing for Australia from August 2025:

  • Standard with ads: AU$9.99 / month
  • Standard: AU$20.99 / month
    • Add 1 extra member for AU$6.99 / month with ads or AU$8.99 / month without ads
  • Premium: AU$28.99 / month
    • Add up to 2 extra members for AU$6.99 each / month with ads or AU$8.99 each / month without ads
