Belkin is one of the first out of the gate to support the latest Qi2 charging standard, with their new 25W compatible UltraCharge collection hitting stores in Australia now. I took the chance to check out their UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Dock for the last few weeks.
The new UltraCharge range supports the new Qi2 standard announced recently which lets you charge compatible devices at up to 25W.
The UltraCharge Pro is a very high-end piece of kit priced at $219.95. The dock is designed to sit on your desk, bedside table or just on the counter, and you have two colour options: Charcoal or Sand, with Belkin sending the Sand coloured option over for review.
The Sand is quite nice, with the 1.5m braided USB-C cable and compact 45W USB-C charger coming in the same colour for a matching look.
The chromed metal keeping all the pads together looks great, but it’s hidden out of the way so you don’t see any fingerprints on it while you place it where you want.
It’s a sturdy device with a little weight in the base, so you can rest assured it’s not going to just fall over and it has rubberised strips on the base for stability and to protect your desk, bedside table or counter.
The 3-in-1 device lets you charge your compatible devices on the three pads. The main pad pad and a smaller pad on the weighted base coverd in a soft-touch silicone to protect your devices, and a third which is an Apple Watch charging puck.
The main pad is hinged, letting you move it from flat to up to 70° to letting you store or transport it in its compact form. The magnets on the pad align the phone easily for charging, as well as letting you mount your iPhone sideways in StandBy mode.
The magnets are strong enough to secure your phone while still in a case and position it with confidence, but the magnets aren’t so strong you ever struggle to simple just pick it up. It also means the unit is relatively compact if you need to take it with you anywhere.
This pad can charge at up to 25W, with the Belkin site spruiking that it can ‘Charge an iPhone from 0-50% in 25 minutes’. The main pad is vented on the rear, with Belkin’s ChillBoost active cooling, dropping the temperature by up to 7°Celsius to optimize high-speed wireless charging.
The cooling is active, and if you get near it and strain you can hear it – but it’s never something overbearing like a laptop fan – or even the Pixel Stand 2 which can be very loud with its active cooling.
The pad at the base lets you charge other devices like AirPods – or my Pixel Buds Pro 2 at up to 5W, while the puck on the back charges your Apple Watch.
So what devices are compatible? Well, the dock charges any Qi compatible device, starting at 7.5W and ramping up to 25W if the device can take it.
At the moment, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 series support 25W Qi2 charging, as does the Pixel 10 Pro XL – however the UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Dock supports all the Pixel 10 series, and earlier iPhones at 15W with the easy automatic magnetic alignment.
The takeaway is that even if the dock is aimed at iPhone users according to the box, if your phone includes Qi2 support it will work on the Belkin UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Dock
So how fast does it charge? Well, I only have one Qi2.2 compatible device, the new Pixel 10 Pro XL. The initial five minutes were unimpressive before it kicked into high gear, taking 123 minutes for the battery to tick over to 100%.
It’s a fast charge, far faster than the original Qi chargers, and consistent as well once it gets underway.
Belkin is first to market in Australia with a stylish, functional and high-speed charging solution. While the box advertises it’s for iPhone, there’s definitely some utility here for Android users as well.
The only drawback is the premium price, but when you’re getting a premium product, it’s worth it.
All up, the UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Dock looks great and charges your devices quickly, all from the one compact unit.
If you want to get your hands on the UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 it’s available to order now on belkin.com/au for $219.95 AUD/
