Here comes the sun – Aldi rolls out affordable solar and battery packages

Renowned for offering groceries at affordable prices, Aldi have announced that they will now take orders for solar and battery packages for installation in selected eastern seaboard locations.

Following a successful trial in Victoria and in conjunction with industry partner Tempo, the move is set to shake up the solar industry as people move to more self sustainable energy production.

The recently introduced Federal Government rebate scheme for battery and solar installation has sparked a new wave in enquiries to existing solar providers by consumers keen to reduce their power bill in an effort to manage the cost of living.

Aldi is set to offer two levels of solar/battery combinations to selected postcodes in the following regions.

  • NSW: Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong
  • VIC: Melbourne
  • QLD: Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast
  • ACT: Canberra

The packages

There are two options available, both with 6.6kW of solar panels and 5.5kW hybrid inverters. Customers will have the choice of either 10kW of battery storage or 20kW. The first level will be priced at $6,999 and the higher battery option at $8,499 fully installed

The systems also come with blackout protection, functionality that is normally extra in most system quotes.

Warranty

Aldi state that they will offer customers a 10 year warranty with a 25 year performance guarantee on the solar panels. They say that all installations will be undertaken by SAA certified installers.

Simon Padovani-Ginies, Group Director at ALDI Australia, said: “Bringing ALDI Solar to more Aussies along the Eastern Seaboard is an exciting step for us, expanding our commitment to delivering incredible quality and affordability beyond groceries”

“With our climate it’s hard to argue about the benefits of a well-designed solar and battery system for Australian homeowners. However, the path to purchase has often been confusing and difficult. ALDI are set to bring remarkable change to the market with the launch of ALDI Solar, and at Tempo we are delighted to be their partner in this category” Craig Handley, General Manager of Energy at Tempo

Timing

Orders have opened and enquiries can be made at www.aldisolar.com.au with installations scheduled to commence in November this year.
