Samsung launches Micro RGB, unparalleled colour accuracy with sub-100-micrometer LEDs

At IFA 2025 in Berlin, Samsung unveiled its Micro RGB technology, which features a micro-scale RGB LED backlight behind a 115-inch screen.

Micro RGB technology arranges individually-controlled red, green and blue micro RGB LEDs in an ‘ultra-fine pattern’ behind the panel. This setup enables precision control over each RGB LED, raising the bar for colour accuracy and contrast in consumer displays.

The array is controlled by Samsung’s Micro RGB AI engine to optimise the picture and sound by analysing each frame in real time. The AI is able to recognise scenes with dull colours and enhance colours across the entire content for a more vivid experience. The colours produced achieve 100% colour coverage of BT.2020, an international standard for colour accuracy.

The new Micro RGB incorporates Vision AI, bringing AI picture and sound production and enhancement and Bixby voice assistant for a personalised experience.

The 115-inch Micro RGB display will join Samsung Australia’s 2025 AV line-up in the coming months.

EFTM’s coverage of IFA 2025 is supported in part by Belkin, Ecovacs, Reolink and Samsung.
