Turn your Sennheiser HD 500 series audiophile headphones into a gaming powerhouse with the HD 500 BAM

Sennheiser has announced the launch of the HD 500 BAM, a boom arm microphone that transforms their HD 500 headphones into gaming headphones like never before.

Often, gaming headsets are great for gaming, but their sound quality is lacking overall. As someone who regularly switches from my gaming headset to audiophile headphones in a single night, the ability to have both is a great idea. Thanks to the new HD 500 BAM from Sennheiser, audiophile gamers will no longer have to switch. Simply plug the new microphone into the cable port on the headphones to transform your audiophile headphones into a gamer’s dream.

The new HD 500 BAM will work with a wide variety of devices, including laptops, desktops, consoles, and some mobile devices, and will connect to both new and legacy Sennheiser models. Any Sennheiser model that uses their single-sided twist-lock connector, including the HD 550, the HD 505, HD 560S, the HD 620S and earlier 5-8 and 5-9 series headphones.

“Gamers have praised the extended comfort and immersive listening their 500-series headphones bring, but the lack of a microphone option meant compromise,” said Klaus Hanselmann, Audiophile Product Manager. “With the HD 500 BAM, we’ve created a sleek, durable, and great-sounding way to level up your output AND input. It is the perfect addition to your daily driver headphones, and a powerful accessory for anyone chasing a total audio upgrade.”

The Sennheiser HD 500 BAM features a 10mm electret condenser capsule with a cardioid pickup pattern for improved voice clarity. This design allows the microphone to reject nearby noise that would otherwise pollute the gaming experience.

The new HD 500 BAM mic enables gamers to use a single headset for all their needs, eliminating the need to juggle headsets for different purposes. The microphone features a 4-pole 3.5mm plug with CTIA wiring and includes an in-line volume control with a mic mute switch along its 1.5m cable. A trio of windscreens and a Y-adapter for PC soundcards with discrete microphone and headphone connections are also included.

The HD 500 BAM is available now at a suggested retail price of .95 AUD from selected audio retailers and at sennheiser-hearing.com/en-AU/p/hd-500-bam/.
