CES 2026 – what to expect for the year ahead in Tech – Big RGB TVs, AI, Robots and lots of smart “things”

It’s the tech event that kicks off every year at pace, the Consumer Electronics Show – CES in Las Vegas and with 2026 just days old we’ve arrived in the City of Casinos and more for the annual convention.

We’ll have coverage across the week here at EFTM as well as across our Social Channels on Instagram and TikTok so please follow along for the latest news from Las Vegas.

With a fair bit of news already announced, as well as some rumours and just general speculation we can take a look at just what the themes from CES 2026 will be.

Big-Screen RGB TVs

CES is known as the place for TV news – it’s where the biggest TV brands for years have competed head to head to showcase their latest technology, be that 3D, Curved TVs or the latest in TV lighting technology.

This year, we’re going to hear three letters from every single brand – R, G, B. Hisense has RGB, LG has RGB, Samsung has RGB and even though they aren’t showcasing at CES, we know SONY has RGB – so strap in for a big year of companies telling us why “their” RGB is better than everyone else’s.

Our current observation is that Samsung and LG talk “Micro RGB” while Hisense is RGB Mini LED, so likely there are “more” RGB lights on the Samsung and LG TVs, but will that be obvious to viewers at home? We don’t yet know!

What we do know is that TVs look sensational right now, but – they are getting bigger! So to ensure the picture quality keeps up with the size, the brands are moving to RGB to ensure the best colour reproduction and image quality over-all.

Expect LG to continue to lean into their stunning OLED range, while Samsung too will push OLED alongside their main focus of Micro RGB. Hisense sets themselves apart with their Laser TV projector range, so there’s plenty on offer for everyone.

Samsung is also teasing a new version of their Freestyle projector, we’re making a b-line to check that out given some of the things we’ve heard.

Artificial Intelligence

Everywhere. AI Everywhere, it’s a guarantee. If you launch a product in 2026 without AI – what are you doing?

It shouldn’t be that way, but it is. Samsung has announced Google Gemini integration into their Family Hub Smart Fridge, that’s to give it more knowledge than every before about the foods going into the fridge which matters when you’re trying to sell the smart fridge as helpful.

And of course every gadget has some link to AI or claim to AI fame.

What we won’t see are Google, OpenAI or Microsoft here talking about AI Agents like Gemini or ChatGPT – instead we’ll see products integrating with these AI agents to make more sense or use for end users.

We hope, really hope, to find some meaningful AI gadgets, but fear that might still be another year or so away.

Robotics

LG has their home robot, that’s going to be really interesting to look at – is it real, is it ready, or is it a sign of things to come.

There will no doubt be robots walking around, with their creators claiming them to be the next big thing, but the reality is we’re still a long, long way off that too.

Robot Vacuums though, that’s a space to watch.. They’re now climbing, avoiding, thinking – basically better than ever – so here’s hoping for much much more of that.

LEGO?

If you search the exhibitor directory of CES I think LEGO would have to be the strangest of them all – I mean, plastic bricks – tech? Perhaps they are doubling down on motors and technic LEGO? Whatever the case, watch this space!
