Gozney Dome 2 Review. The Centrepiece of Outdoor Entertaining

First, I need to give a shoutout to my sister. She told Trevor no to the pizza oven at their house, which meant I was the lucky one who got to review the Gozney Dome 2. Thanks sis!

I realised something pretty quickly, Gozney Dome 2 isn’t just a pizza oven, it’s a lifestyle.

The centrepiece of your outdoor space.

The Gozney Dome 2 isn’t something you hide away in a corner. Once you have it set up, it quickly becomes the centrepiece of your outdoor entertainment area. In fact, you’ll likely build the rest of your outdoor setup around it.

Friends coming over? Move aside traditional BBQ, make way for the Gozney. When guests leave, they’ll feel like they’ve just walked out of a gourmet pizza kitchen, not a standard backyard barbecue.

Restaurant-quality pizza (even on gas) – the Gozney Dome 2

For this review, we cooked exclusively with gas, but honestly, you wouldn’t know it.

The pizzas come out tasting as if they’ve just been pulled from a traditional Italian wood-fired oven. That really highlights how effective Gozney’s signature lateral rolling flame design is, it recreates the heat and cooking environment you’d expect from wood firing.

Smart tech where it counts

Here at EFTM it’s all about the tech.

While the Gozney Dome 2 doesn’t include Wi-Fi connectivity or app control, it does include some genuinely useful built-in tech features that you don’t get with many other pizza ovens:

  • A fully digital display
  • Dual temperature monitoring for both the oven and the stone
  • A coloured readiness gauge so you know when it’s time to launch your pizza
  • A built-in timer
  • A rechargeable system, so there’s no worrying about batteries dying mid-cook

It’s simple, practical technology that actually improves the cooking experience.

The Gozney Dome 2 is a clear upgrade from the Arc XL

I’ve previously used the Gozney Arc XL, and while that’s a fantastic oven, the Gozney Dome 2 is clearly the superior unit.

Temperature control feels more precise and stable while cooking, which likely comes down to its three layers of insulation and large 30mm thick stone that retains heat exceptionally well.

Built for serious outdoor cooking

The Gozney Dome 2 sits on a great stand with wheels and side tables, giving you preparation space and placing the oven opening at the perfect height.

Despite weighing 62kg, setup is surprisingly straightforward if you have a couple of mates to help and don’t worry, you will have lots more lining up once you have one of these at your house.

Versatility is where this oven really shines. Yes, it makes incredible pizza, but that’s just the start.

You can cook:

  • Cedar plank salmon (honestly, the best salmon I’ve ever tasted)
  • Charred vegetables
  • Massive tomahawk steaks
  • Slow-cooked beef ribs (with the right accessories)

It’s far more than a pizza oven, it’s a full outdoor cooking system.

Gozney Dome 2 – The Good

  • Stylish design. If you own a Gozney Dome 2, you’ll want it on display. It genuinely elevates your outdoor space. In fact, I even used it as staging during my house sale inspections, and the house sold after the first inspection!
  • Large cooking capacity. Plenty of space to cook multiple pizzas at once or handle meat and vegetables together.
  • Excellent heat retention. The 30mm stone keeps temperatures stable and consistent.
  • Top-tier build quality. Everything from Gozney feels premium and built to last, something that’s becoming rare these days.
  • Versatility. This isn’t just a pizza oven. With the right accessories, you can cook everything from seafood to steaks and even slow-cooked dishes.
  • Accessories galore! You can customise the Gozney Dome 2 with accessories like mantles, peels, a Neapolitan arch, covers, and a temperature gun. One big plus, if an accessory needs batteries, Gozney includes them!
  • Excellent stand design. The stand puts the oven at the perfect working height and adds useful prep space.
  • Natural gas option available. A great addition for those who want a permanent outdoor setup.

Gozney Dome 2 – The Not-So-Good

  • It’s big. This isn’t an oven for an apartment balcony. If space is limited, something like the newer Arc Lite would be more suitable.
  • Ventilation clearance required. If installing under a ceiling, you’ll need at least 3 metres of clearance for proper ventilation when using the stand.
  • Heavy. At 62kg, you’ll need at least two people to move it safely.
  • Price. Quality doesn’t come cheap, but with the Gozney Dome 2 you really do get what you pay for.
  • Safety. Like all high-temperature cooking equipment, it gets extremely hot. Extra care is needed around children.

Final Thoughts

The Gozney Dome 2 is more than just a pizza oven, it’s a premium outdoor cooking centrepiece.

It delivers restaurant-quality pizza, excellent versatility, and standout build quality, while adding serious visual appeal to any outdoor entertaining area.

Yes, it’s large, heavy and expensive, but if you’re serious about outdoor cooking, the Gozney Dome 2 might just become the best investment in your backyard.
