GoPro have been hinting at something big and have now revealed their new range of 8K and 4K Open Gate cinema cameras, designed to appeal to filmmakers, creators and “aspiring enthusiasts”
The Mission 1 range comes in three models
All three are equipped with impressive specs to suit all levels of budget and proficiency
The 50MP 1″ Sensor promises to deliver incredible low-light performance and up to 14 stops of dynamic range and when coupled with the new G3 processor (5nm) and built-in neural engine they deliver superior power efficiency.
In a good, better, best approach where good is already exceptional, this new range of cinema cameras promise to be popular with professionals as well as the serious amateurs.
The MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO feature a fixed lens whist the MISSION 1 PRO ILS is a mirrorless version with an interchangeable lens mount that supports compatibility with Micro Four Thirds lenses.
All models incorporate Open Gate video which is the ability to utilise the entire height and width of the sensor providing the flexibility to crop, reframe, or rotate footage in post-production for various platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok) without losing significant resolution
“The MISSION 1 Series is the pinnacle of performance for low-cost, compact cinema cameras,” said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro’s founder and CEO. “Our most demanding, pro-minded customers have asked us for years to make this very line of cameras, and we’ve finally delivered. The MISSION 1 Series is designed to go to hell and back, and that’s exactly where our customers are going to take them. The footage is going to look amazing.”
