Rockstar Partners with Netflix to Broadcast Exclusive Grand Theft Auto VI Extended Look

It’s been 458 days since Rockstar dropped trailer 2 for Grand Theft Auto VI. The next look at GTA VI won’t be landing on YouTube though, it’s on Netflix.

Rockstar have announced that an ‘Extended Look’ will air on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET – that’s 5 a.m. AEST on Friday, August 28 for those of us  playing at home.

It’s a first of its kind partnership for Netflix, with this ‘Extended Look’ the first time we’ve seen coverage of a video game. But this is Grand Theft Auto VI we’re talking about and interest is at its peak.

Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction Series said of the upcoming stream

Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first. It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.”

Exactly what we’ll see in the special isn’t exactly known, though Netflix and Rockstar have released a teaser, as well as a description:
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look showcases one of the most anticipated releases in history, offering Netflix subscribers a chance to see more about the game that will define the next era of entertainment.

Fans of the game are hoping to see a story trailer, as well as gameplay mechanics ahead of the launch on November 19th, but we’ll have to wait and see.

While the special will air initially on Netflix, it will also be coming to YouTube, landing on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel as well as the Rockstar Grand Theft Auto VI mini-site at 11:00 a.m AEST later the same day.
