Samsung announces the Galaxy S26 FE, the affordable flagship smartphone experience

Hot on the heels of its exceptionally successful flagship foldables launch, Samsung has unveiled its affordable 2026 flagship lineup, the Galaxy S26 FE series.

This year’s Fan Edition devices once again feature a premium design with flagship attributes and performance, with a particular focus on the camera and AI-powered experiences.

The Galaxy S26 FE is designed to deliver a more capable camera experience from capture to edit, with an improved triple rear camera and enhanced image processing.  The new rear camera includes 3x optical zoom, while the front camera is now 12MP.

Camera features new to the Galaxy S26 FE include:

• My FanCam – this camera feature tracks a selected person and intelligently keeps them centred in the frame, allowing for quick and easy social content capturing and sharing.
• Super Steady with Horizontal Lock – helps to capture smooth footage in fast-moving moments.
• Nightography – helps capture low-light images with preserved detail, even in extremely low-light environments.
• Photo Assist – makes it easier to edit your images using “natural language prompts.”  Simply describe the edits you want to make by typing, and the AI will perform them for you.
• Gemini Omni – use this to create and edit videos based on your photos and videos

The new Galaxy S26 FE features a 6.7-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display and a 4,900mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging.  A 30-minute charge will take the battery to 69%.

With Gemini-powered features, the phone runs on Samsung’s latest One UI 9 and includes seven years of OS and security upgrades.

Smart features include an updated Now Brief for customisable briefing cards such as weather and wellness insights and the ability to create your own, expanded third-party support for Now Nudge to surface timely, relevant notifications throughout the day and Circle to Search with Google.

The Galaxy S26 FE includes a 6-month free trial of Google AI Pro, which brings expanded AI capabilities and 5TB of cloud storage valued at AUD $32.99 per month.

Pricing and Availability

Galaxy S26 FE will be available in Australia starting September 4 and will come in three colours: Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio, starting at $1,149 for the 8GB/128GB variant.
