Facebook Photo leads to Sacking – Protect your Privacy

We’ve all heard the stories, but does it really happen? Yes.

Tonight, I appeared on a Story on Channel 9’s A Current Affair which detailed the story of a young man, sacked from his job, after photos of him at a Family New Years celebration appeared on Facebook, while he was on Sick leave.

Watch the story here: http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8119373

For more information on how to protect yourself from a similar situation – read on below (click Continue Reading)So, this chap was very unlucky.

HE did not post a photo of himself.  His BOSS was not even on Facebook, nor was he ‘friends’ with his boss on Facebook.

Instead, his AUNTY posted a photo.  The boss’s SON saw the photo after the Aunty ‘tagged’ the employee in a photo.  The Son was a friend of the employee and therefore got the ‘new photo of XXX’ message.  The Son must have told his dad, and the rest is history.

SO, how to prevent this at your Facebook account?

Easy.

Login to Facebook.

Click ACCOUNT in the top right of the screen, then choose PRIVACY SETTINGS

Next, click CUSTOMISE SETTINGS

Find the section marked: “Photos and videos I’m tagged in” – and click the grey drop down box to the right of it.

Choose CUSTOMIZE from that menu.

In the next drop down, select “make this visible to: These People: “ONLY ME””

That’s it, save, and exit.

Now, no matter who tags you in a photo, only YOU will see it!

Do it, now!
