B&O PLAY BeoPlay A2

The B&O PLAY BeoPlay A2 is unique, and very different.  Firstly it’s not just any Bluetooth speaker, it’s from a top-notch company.  Secondly it’s got a very unique design and perhaps matching the price the quality is excellent.

B&O PLAY is actually a subsidiary of Bang & Olufsen, I’m not quite clear why that’s important for B&O but they go to great lengths to point this out when we first received this product.

At $479 this is not for everyone, but if you want style and quality you do need to pay for it.

The box itself is huge, and when you get that quality feel from the packaging you know the product will be good.

Inside is a large speaker – 25cm long, 15cm tall and 4.4cm thick.  It’s that thickness that gets you – because in total it seems quite thin and out of proportion.

We tested the “green”, but I think I’d take the grey if I was buying, while Black is also available.

The leather strap gives an added touch you wont find on another unit, while it also makes it truly portable.

Inside the large battery offers 24 hour splay time, and will not only power the speaker but when you need some juice just plug your smartphone in and you’re charging.

These are all relatively common features now, but well executed by B&O Play.

The sound was full and loud, and not overly bass heavy.  Also not as crisp as I’d perhaps expected, but certainly well above the average and comparable in the price range.

Thanks to something B&O Play call “True360” the sound is excellent at any angle, in fact-finding the front and back was difficult to determine.

If I was shopping for a portable Bluetooth speaker with $500 in my kick this would be an easy buy.
