Facebook creates a world map view of all the live broadcasts at any time

Ever wanted to find out what’s happening near you, or somewhere completely random in the world? The new age of personal live broadcasting (or PLB as I’ll call it) is really picking up and Facebook have launched a new “global view” of their live broadcasts so you can find live streams wherever they are happening.

Newsrooms around the world are going to love this, because at any time they can find live video from places they might not be, or get a live look at a situation before they commence coverage or send crews.

Everyday Facebook users can use it to find cool and strange things happening anywhere in the world.

The feature has been available on Twitter’s Periscope app for some time, but only within the app, and now Facebook brings that to the web, and adds some pretty cool features.

Firstly, the global map is easy to use, scroll and zoom as you need, plus the live stream is available in a pop up by just hovering on the live location.

Secondly, hover on a hotspot on the map you can not only see the live stream but representative lines showing where the viewers are too.

This is a truly micro view of a very exciting PLB revolution – but on a macro scale – if that makes sense.

Doesn’t matter where it is, or what it is, live broadcasting is now a real thing for anyone, any event – any event:
