ALDI’s Bauhn 40 inch TV Review: Low cost tech deals this weekend

“While stocks last” – Three words every Aldi bargain hunter knows only too well, and this weekend Aldi have a bunch of tech items that will be in hot demand.

We’ve got our hands – and eyes – onto one of the two TVs on offer, but in addition to TVs there are two other items that will walk out the door.

Aldi’s Bauhn brand Bluetooth Headphones will sell for $39.99 – and being Wireless headphones that’s outstanding value. These are large over-ear headphones with foam padded ear pads and heavily padded over the head support.

For the uber geek, there’s an Android Media player box selling for $79.99.  This little set top box has Netflix pre-loaded but running android will allow any android media apps to be installed for a simple big-screen experience, plus two USB ports and MicroSD card for taking content from other devices into your TV.

But the real value is probably in the Bauhn TVs.

The 65 inch 4K UltraHD TV will sell for $899 this weekend, and while it’s no smart TV, it’s 4K capable, and has a built in PVR allowing you to pause, record and playback content from Free-to-air TV.

We’ve taken a look this weekend at the Bauhn 40inch TV and it’s pretty impressive. At $333 it’s cheaper than online retailer Kogan is selling a comparable unit (42 inch) so the value is outstanding.

Again, not a smart TV, but with 3 x HDMI’s, Component, RGB and VGA this unit has all the connections you need to hook up the most advanced streaming box or anything you’ve got.

It’s only Full HD – not 4K, but frankly at 40 inches I’m not sure you’re really going to care.  For a family this is a play-room TV, or perhaps in the man-cave, but for the renters or those just wanting to upgrade an old boxy TV to something small, thin and light, this is all you’ll need.

Image quality is great, there’s no fuss or nonsense with the remote – you’re paying $333 so don’t expect much and you’ll be very satisfied with the result.

I watched Hacksaw Ridge in HD all the way through and was not disappointed at all, the mix of slow scenes and intense battlefield action were both displayed well.

The 40 inch TV will be the one you’ll have to line up for on Saturday.
