Beoplay P2 review: Impressive sound from such a small speaker

For $250 you can buy some serious Bluetooth speakers – big in size, big in volume.  Or you can look to B&O PLAY for the Beoplay P2 which is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but will impress you with its sound.

The average buyer wouldn’t consider this – spending $250 is a lot for something so small.  B&O have put a bunch of tricks under the skin of the Beoplay P2 to sit alongside the sound quality itself.

Good luck working out how to turn it on – there’s no obvious buttons on this little baby, in fact the B&O logo on the underside is where you press to power it on and begin pairing.

So with no buttons – how are you skipping tracks, or pausing?  Good luck:)

Pause is relatively easy – tap the speaker a couple of times, same to play.

Skipping tracks can apparently done with a shake of the P2 – though while I witnessed it happen a few times, I’ve no idea what shake action it was that made it work.  So, just stick to your phone’s on-screen buttons perhaps.

Tricks aside wow – I cracked out some Paul McCartney Live on this little baby and boy oh boy, crisp, clear, very full sound.

Sitting on a desk pointing up the sound doesn’t quite fill a large room but that’s not what this is for.  It’s a personal speaker.  Great sitting on your own desk, or beside you at a table while you work.

The string attached means hanging it up beside you is an option also, and being splash resistant the can be also by the pool.

I’d like to say it’s the best sound under $250, but it’s not – there’s some booming sound available for that price.

But on size alone – head to head with any other speaker this size, there’s nothing better.  Seriously impressive sound.
