Socks For The Mountain Or Pub – Wigwam Peak 2 Pub

Over the past week I’ve thought more about socks than probably during my whole lifetime. Why? Well the good people at Wigwam sent me a pair from the new “Peak 2 Pub” range. The what? I hear you say, more on that in a sec. But since their arrival my interest has spiked when it comes to socks, my eyes have been opened and my feet informed.

The Peak 2 Pub range is the latest in a long line of sock action from an American company that’s been around since 1905. The claim is they can be worn while bush-walking then worm straight into your local waterhole to cool off. The socks that I’m proudly wearing right now are made from various materials including nylon, merino wool, drirelease TENCEL and a material I thought I’d never type – spandex.

The mix of materials give a lightweight feel, provide ample comfort and help draw moisture away via a patented control system called Ultimax. The result is fresh feet, free from blisters, sweat and hopefully odour.

But for a bloke who 95 percent of the time wears mismatched socks (when they can’t be seen) it’s the various designs that captured my interest. There’s a dazzling array of aztec inspired patterns, tropical prints and classic stripes. The available styles are: Pikes Peak Pro, Highline Pro, Broken Arrow Pro, Makua Valley Pro, Copper Canyon Pro and Miley. For the record, my wife made me choose “Makua Valley Pro”.

If you really are the type of bloke that likes to show off his socks you can rest easy. These beauties have a special rib-stitching method meaning they stay up while you climb that hill or drink that schooner.

The Wigwam Peak 2 Pub retail for $34.95, for more information on Wigwam or to find your nearest retailer visit outdooragencies.com.au
