Blackberry launches the KEYone Black Edition in Australia

After selling out of the first batch of the new Blackberry KEYone devices in Australia, TCL have announced the KEYone Black Edition is available now at JB HiFi.

Priced the same as the original at $899 the Black edition harps back to the original Blackberry’s in many ways as most of them were all-Black in the heddy days of the Blackberry Bold et al.

“The global release of the BlackBerry KEYone from TCL Communication has far exceeded our expectations so far. Today’s announcement sees BlackBerry smartphones now available in more than 30 countries around the world, while we continue to lay the groundwork for more releases in the near future.” said Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for TCL Communication’s BlackBerry Mobile brand.

“The demand and excitement for the BlackBerry KEYone across the globe has been fantastic. We congratulate TCL Communications for bringing the KEYone Black Edition to market so quickly, and know it will provide the performance and trusted security people expect from the BlackBerry brand.” said Alex Thurber, senior vice president and general manager of Mobility Solutions, BlackBerry.

There is no core differences between the black and the silver other than the matt-black finish, but for those wanting something different it’s a great alternative.

The Blackberry KEYone is a return to market for Blackberry under new licensed manufacturer TCL and it runs a full Android operating system with many additional Blackberry security features.

This keyboard based device is certainly not for everyone in a touch screen world, but there’s demand globally and here in Australia so we’d expect this Black Edition to sell well also.

You’ll find it now at JB HiFi
