In 2018 Huawei sold 206 million smartphones around the world, a 35% jump on 2017 – in Australia the P series sales were up 580% and Mate Series up 450% – so it’s been a very good year.
Now to follow on, Huawei have revealed their next flagship device – the P30.
There are two variants of the P30 coming to Australia, the P30 and the P30 Pro.
Key differences are:
Yep, it’s extreme. Hard to explain really.. The P30 Pro has a quad lens system.
Those four cameras are: 40MP Main, 20MP Ultra Wide, an 8MP 5x Zoom “Periscope” lens, and a “Time of Flight” lens too.
Combined with a serious level of Optical Image Stabilisation, there’s a 5x optical, 10x Hybrid and 50x Digital Zoom – serious stuff.
Ultra Wide gives you the chance to get more in, without distortion though which is key, while the combination of lenses also create a strong Macro performance too.
The Triple lens on the P30 is nothing to shirk at though, with a great wide angle and low light performance too.
Speaking of low light, the ISO on the P30 Pro is just ridiculous. 409,600 – yes, you read that right. We’ll be doing some serious low-light testing for sure.
The P30 will charge 58% in 30 minutes, while the P30 Pro will get to 70% in the same time.
That’s thanks to a 40W charging system, while even wirelessly they’ve upped the ante with a 15W Wireless charge.
And of course, on the P30 Pro you’ll also get reverse charging too which Huawei Pioneered with their Mate Series, and reverse wireless on the Mate 20 is emulated on the P30 Pro.
They’re taking orders now, and the pricing is solid.
$1,099 for the P30, while the P30 Pro drops at $1,599.
P30 comes with 128GB capacity, The Pro has 256.
In what I think is a first for Huawei, they’ve got total buy in from the Telcos.
The P30 will be available at Vodafone in Single SIM configuration while the Dual-SIM P30 will be at Optus, JB’s, Harvey’s, mobiciti and Kogan.
Both Telstra and Vodafone will range the Single SIM P30 Pro, while Optus and the retailers will sell the Dual-SIM configuration of the Pro model.
Taking a leaf out of the book of the big guys, Huawei have a very compelling pre-order offer too.
Any Pre-Order sales will receive a Sonos One speaker valued at $299. Gotta love that!
We’ll have a full review in the days ahead – but spoiler alert – it’s stunning, and ticks every box.
