Holden Equinox LTZ-V Sydney to Canberra road trip

As you may be aware, we have a couple of long-term loan vehicles in the EFTM garage. The Hyundai Ioniq, Kia Sorento and Holden Equinox LTZ-V.

The latter we’ve now travelled 3546kms in. Up until now it has mainly been used as a work commuter car.

Today we’ve taken the LTZ-V flagship to Canberra, a 294km trip each way from my North Western Sydney home. This is the first real test of how Holden’s five-seater copes with me, my wife and the tonne of gear, our near two-year old inexplicably needs.

For the first leg I’ve elected to turn on the adaptive all-wheel-drive system. Holden gives the driver the option to have it on or off, claiming fuel savings. So, we will put that to the test. At the halfway mark in Goulburn we are sitting right on 9.0L/100km that’s with a 55-litre tank full of 98RON petrol.

The Equinox is a mid-sized SUV with five-seats, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and nine-speed transmission. The range topping LTZ-V is priced from $46,290 before on-roads.

DAY 2

Well it’s now day two in Canberra, and it’s bloody cold. But the Holden Equinox LTZ-V has got us here with minimal fuss. I wish it had a larger fuel tank, 55-litres is a tad annoying. Although for a turbocharged engine we’ve done pretty well to average 8.9L/100km. Here’s the latest video update!
