Sony’s latest true wireless earbuds are now water resistant and coming to Australia later this year

The range of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) ear buds is expanding rapidly, and Sony has today announced their latest effort, the WF-SP800N, with improved water resistance and noise cancellation.

The Sony WF-SP800N offer a number of improvements over the previous model, including an upgrade to IP55 dust and water resistance, so you can work out inside or out, in the rain or anywhere and not worry – you can even rinse the sweat off if you go hard.

The buds have been designed with comfort in mind, with a ‘soft-cushioned arc supporter and three-dimensional curved design’, which Sony says will ensure ‘a secure, comfortable fit’.

The buds have a touch sensitive panel for playback and phonecall control, as well as options to call the Google Assistant, or Amazon’s Alexa to help you on the go. They’re also smart and can sense when you take a bud out of your ear and pause the music.

The buds have an impressive nine hour charge, with the included battery case offering up to 18 hours of music playback with noise cancelling switched on and up to 26 hours without. The case can even quick charge 60 minutes of music playback in just 10 minutes.

In terms of sound, Sony included their latest noise cancelling technology, allowing you to block out distraction. The buds also include ‘Extra Bass’ which will punch up the low-end sounds. Sony is even including their 360 Reality Audio, which builds a ‘custom immersive musical field’ just for you when you connect the Sony Headphones Connect app.

The name may be a mouthful, but Sony generally does deliver on some of the best sound quality for consumers in their headphones10. They aren’t cheap though, with the WF-SP800N set to arrive in Australia in Q3 with a $449.95 price tag.
