Bose is back with Sleepbuds II – simply put, they’re better.

I’ve gotta say, I didn’t expect to be writing about Bose Sleepbuds again. The first generation were very well received, but in the end they were discontinued and refunds offered because they didn’t meet Bose’s own lofty standards.

That announcement itself was stunning to me, and now, to come back like a Pheonix rising from the ashes, it’s credit to Bose who clearly see a product category here to own.

And the user support is there, loads of very happy owners, or lovers of the product idea but perhaps disappointed by the battery performance – they’ll be keen for the second generation.

The Bose Sleepbuds II are “clinically proven” to help you fall asleep faster.

They feature better noise masking and have new sounds to not only help you sleep, but help you relax.

There are now 35 tracks which have been specifically designed and tested to work in these circumstances.

But, like the first generation, these are design for Sleep and relaxation alone. Nothing else. These are not headphones for listening to your music on the train, these are for you to listened to pre-programmed content and help you sleep and relax.

“Bose Sleepbuds II use advancements in our proprietary noise masking technology because covering sound — not cancelling it — is a better solution for sleeping,” said Steve Romine, head of the Bose Health Division.

“You can’t duplicate the experience combining earbuds with apps, playing your music louder, or using earplugs and bedside machines — so millions of people are still suffering. We never gave up on helping them, and that’s why we’re so excited about Sleepbuds II. They ‘quiet’ more of the low frequencies found in the biggest threats to a peaceful bedroom — like snoring partners, idling engines, and nearby footsteps. And with new relaxation tracks, they help quiet your mind, too.”

Available from October 13, they will retail for $379.95.
