Britbox launches in Australia: Streaming the best of British

For the lovers of all things British, there’s a new streaming service in town – called Britbox. It’s a partnership between UK Broadcaster ITV and the BBC production arm BBC Studios and the Australian launch of Britbox follows on from it’s success in the UK, US and Canada.

Today is “Doctor Who Day” and there’s no better day to launch, with the largest streaming collection of Doctor Who available right now on Britbox.

Sure that’s great, as is the extensive library, but it’s Midsomer Murders, Blackaddres, Top Gear, The Vicar of Dibley, The Office, even Mr Bean that will resonate with most Aussies.

Moira Hogan, from BritBox says: “Our aim is to be the place to discover hidden gems or find your new favourite series. We’ve delved into the rich catalogues of BBC Studios and ITV to deliver thousands of hours of classic and contemporary mystery, crime, drama and comedy titles for launch. This is just the start, with plenty more favourite British series, territory premieres, exclusives and originals to be released on BritBox each month.

“Australians have an affinity for British television and the launch of BritBox in Australia is a unique opportunity to tap into this passion and nostalgia. We look forward to firmly establishing ourselves with Australian streaming
audiences,”

Britbox is available now, for $8.99 per month, or an annual cost of $89.99 – sure to appeal to many who probably pay big bucks monthly for this stuff on Foxtel.

I’ve checked the service, sadly “The Bill” isn’t there, so it’s a disappointment for me, but it’s ok – they have Cracker, so I’ll subscribe:)

You can find Britbox already on Fetch, Telstra TV, Samsung Smart TVs, LG Smart TVs, Apple TV and via Chromecast, as well as on the web and mobile devices.
