NVIDIA is bring their GeForce Now cloud gaming service to Australia this year

Cloud gaming in Australia is about to heat up with NVIDIA announcing overnight that they’ll be bringing their GeForce Now service to Australia, as well as Turkey and Saudi Arabia, later this year.

What is GeForce Now? It’s NVIDIA’s cloud game streaming service which lets you stream games from EPIC, Steam, UPlay and more to PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, Android and iOS devices and of course the NVIDIA Shield Android TV set top box.

For the Australian launch, NVIDIA has partnered with Perth based, Australian company, Pentanet for local data centre support, though we hope there’s something based on the east coast as well.

There’s no release date, nor Australian pricing for the service just yet. In the US, NVIDIA offers a free tier allowing gamers to play for up to an hour, or Founders edition for $5USD/month over 12 months allowing you to play up to six hours at a time.

The launch of the NVIDIA GeForce Now service into Australia means cloud gaming is starting to heat up down under. Microsoft launched the Project xCloud Beta trial in November ahead of a full launch this year. Google has still yet to bring their game streaming service, Stadia, to Australia, and Amazon hasn’t announced further plans for their Luna game streaming service either, but with these other vendors launching their service here, it’s likely only time before they do.

At this stage NVIDIA hasn’t begun accepting sign-ups, but if you want you can let Pentanet know you’re interested on their website
