Boost Mobile signs 10 Year deal with Telstra – signals move into Home Broadband

Boost Mobile has signed a new 10 year agreement with Telstra allowing them to continue to utilise the biggest network in the country to sell telco services under what has become one of the most recognised telco and youth brands in Australia.

Founded just over 20 years ago, Boost is essentially an additional brand on the Telstra network, offering the full Telstra network to customers at different value packages to the big T.

As part of the new agreement, Boost will seek to expand their market offering into NBN and Mobile Broadband, allowing the brand to upsell existing customers, and grow their overall user and revenue base.

Don’t mistake this, it’s a huge business deal. The level of Telstra network access Boost has is second to none, and that gives them huge clout in their marketing.

Boost Founder Peter Adderton says “This is a major moment in Boost Mobile’s history as we further expand our longstanding relationship with Telstra. For more than 20 years now, ever since we started the company on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, we have been all about fighting for the consumer, making sure everyday Aussies get a great deal and a great service.”

“It is recognition by Telstra of the value that Boost Mobile brings to their business and the importance of our role in the market more broadly. It has never been more important to have fighting brands like Boost Mobile in the industry, and today’s renewal and new benefits of this agreement will allow us to fight for the consumer on a whole new level. It will enable us to offer consumers more choice in more areas of the market than ever before.”

“It is also a major endorsement from Telstra about the value of the Boost brand and the important role we play in the market, which is why they have agreed to extend the partnership for 10 years.”

Telstra’s Michael Ackland says “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Boost Mobile as we think the new deal complements the growth aspirations and strength of both brands. We’re both passionate about our customers and Boost has a very important part to play in our multi-brand strategy,”

How soon Boost can ramp up into NBN and Mobile home broadband is yet to be seen, there’s also no mention of when Boost will get access to the Telstra 5G network, or eSIM activations for customers – but I’d be sure it’s on the roadmap. Despite Adderton’s blasé attitude to 5G given the benefits aren’t huge on a mobile, imagine a Boost 5G logo on a V8 Supercar – I’m sure rev-head Adderton has had that thought.
