Bentley eyes an electric future, announcing five new EV models from 2025

One new EV every year from 2025 for five years – that’s the five-in-five plan announced by Bentley today.

It’s a $4.7 billion plan to transform the entire Bentley product range and their factory into a digital first production centre.

This year the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV will launch, putting electrification front and centre in the ultra-luxury car market – and in all reality, those cars are perfect for electrification – given they don’t likely run more than 100km a day, or anywhere near that.

Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark says “Simultaneously accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and securing BEV production at Crewe, alongside a £2.5 billion investment, makes this a major landmark in Bentley’s 102-year history. It is a shining light for the Bentley family, our suppliers and partners, as well as the automotive industry and UK manufacturing as a whole.

“This latest announcement regarding Bentley’s Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history. The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact. That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility.”

Given the already luxurious ride and handling of a Bentley car, in the same way that a Rolls Royce is ultra-luxury, it will be fascinating to see how full electrification further enhances that luxury experience.
