Xbox Game Pass is coming to Smart TVs starting with Samsung TVs in June

At Summer Games Fest this morning, Microsoft has announced that from June 30, you’ll be able to stream Xbox Game Pass titles directly to your Samsung Smart TV.

Microsoft and Samsung have partnered for the initial launch of Game Pass on Smart TVs with the service set to be available on 2022 Samsung Smart TVs including Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, QLEDs and 2022 Smart Monitor Series.

The service will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, with over 100 games including the latest Halo, Forza, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Hades and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction and more available to stream.

To play the games you’ll be able to connect a bluetooth controller including the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, Elite Series 2 Controller, and the Sony PS5 DualSense controller.

Microsoft has been moving towards bringing Game Pass to Smart TVs since they announced it last year and this is the first partnership but . Cloud gaming on Smart TVs isn’t new, with LG announcing a partnership to include the NVIDIA GeForce Now game streaming service on their Smart TVs after it went live here last year. Samsung and LG also offer access to Google’s Stadia game streaming service in markets where that service is live, but Google has shown no signs of bringing it to Australia as yet.

Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming said

We’re on a quest to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet, and bringing the Xbox app to smart TVs is another step in making our vision a reality. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Samsung, a global leader in TVs, on bringing Xbox to more players. Working with Samsung has helped us provide more access to gaming and enabled us to welcome new players into our thriving community.

Owners of Samsung 2022 Smart TVs who also subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be able to access the Xbox app from the Samsung Gaming Hub from June 30. If you haven’t tried out Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, new users can check it out for just $1 for the first month and $15.95 per month after that.
