Love handwriting but hate scanning? This pen will do it for you!

If you are one of those among us that has never really adapted to the digital age, you might still regularly be using a notepad, physical sticky notes or even spare sheets of paper for your note taking and drawing needs. And while this is very well and good, it’s not the most conducive to sharing, or backing up.

The simple solution? Scanning your physical notes. The much more innovative, exciting and expensive option? Have your pen scan them for you as you go.

Allow me to introduce you to the Nuwa Pen:

The Nuwa Pen uses a series of cameras in the tip of the pen to trace your movements, which allows it to be very precise in it’s capturing of your handwriting. But what if I told you that wasn’t the cool part… after all smart pens have existed for years, however they’ve typically required you to write on a specific type of paper, or tablet. The camera array and pressure sensors mean that you can write on any surface and have an instant digital copy of your scribbles.

It uses standard D1 ink, which can be easily replaced and has a battery life of 2 hours. A full charge can be reached with 15 minutes of charging and you’re back up and running.

The team at Nuwa are looking to bridge the gap between analog and digital, allowing users the ability to work in the physical world, but without losing the benefits of the digital one.

Alongside the digitisation of handwriting, third party app integrations allow you to interact with your notes for ease of use, such as generating to-do lists, calendar events and contacts.

Now look, is a glorified real-time scanner worth the ~$400 AUD price tag? Probably not. But I haven’t picked up a pen in years. If physical note taking is your cup of tea, the Nuwa Pen is certainly worth a look.

The Nuwa Pen is currently available for pre-order at a discounted price and can be picked up from their website.
