Love handwriting but hate scanning? This pen will do it for you!

The Nuwa Pen uses a series of cameras in the tip of the pen to trace your movements, which allows it to be very precise in it’s capturing of your handwriting. But what if I told you that wasn’t the cool part… after all smart pens have existed for years, however they’ve typically required you to write on a specific type of paper, or tablet. The camera array and pressure sensors mean that you can write on any surface and have an instant digital copy of your scribbles.

It uses standard D1 ink, which can be easily replaced and has a battery life of 2 hours. A full charge can be reached with 15 minutes of charging and you’re back up and running.

The team at Nuwa are looking to bridge the gap between analog and digital, allowing users the ability to work in the physical world, but without losing the benefits of the digital one.

Alongside the digitisation of handwriting, third party app integrations allow you to interact with your notes for ease of use, such as generating to-do lists, calendar events and contacts.

Now look, is a glorified real-time scanner worth the ~$400 AUD price tag? Probably not. But I haven’t picked up a pen in years. If physical note taking is your cup of tea, the Nuwa Pen is certainly worth a look.
