Nvidia’s GeForce Now game streaming platform is launching on cars

At CES in Las Vegas, Nvidia has announced that they are teaming up with automotive manufacturers such as the Hyundai Group (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis), Polestar and BYD to bring their game streaming platform GeForce Now to cars.

All three manufacturers have announced that they will be building their infotainment systems on the Nvidia Drive platform but Nvidia say that the platform will run on Android-based infotainment systems or built-in web browsers. It is unclear at this stage whether that will just mean Android Auto or Android Automotive such as that seen on the Polestar 2 here in Australia.

The system will allow drivers and front seat passengers to game while the car is parked and if there are displays in the back, allow those seated in the rear to game at anytime. GeForce Now gives users access to more than 1500 games with more than1,000 controller-enabled games with top-rated titles such as A Plague Tale: Requiem, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 and more from leading stores such as Steam, Epic Games Store, the EA app, Ubisoft and GOG.com available.

We are excited to offer our customers the best in technology, comfort, design from BYD and now the latest in gaming through NVIDIA GeForce NOW high-performance cloud gaming service,” said Stella Li Vice President of BYD and CEO of BYD America. “The experience of driving our cars is becoming increasingly sophisticated, entertaining and sustainable.”

At this stage it is unclear just which cars will receive Nvidia GeForce Now streaming capabilities, nor when they will but will all three of these manufacturers selling their electric offerings to Australia now we hope to see it sometime this year.

EFTM’s Coverage of CES 2023 is made possible by the ongoing support of our regular advertisers and supporters such as Arlo, Belkin, Oppo, Netgear, JBL and Trend Micro, and by additional support from Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, BMW and Boost Mobile.
