Mustang Mach-E Australian Price confirmed – starting at $79,990

Ford Australia’s electric year continues at full speed with reservations for the Mustang Mach-E opening up this afternoon and with that the prices have been set with the all-electric blue-oval to start at $79,990 here in Australia.

With deliveries expected this year, Ford is anticipating a strong demand for the Mach-E and their aggressive pricing sits in a place to match that with a sub-$80k pricetag opening many eyes to the Mach-E for sure.

As we noted at the launch at the Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix, there are three models coming to Australia.

The Mach-E Select, the Premium and the GT.

Mustang Mach-E GT tops the trio with a price of $108,990 plus on roads. That gets you a dual-motor drive on a 91kWh battery with 490km of range.

One step down and the Mach-E Premium offers the same battery on a single rear-axel mounted motor, with near to 600km range – that one’s priced at $92,990.

Entry level lovers will flock to the $79,990 Mach-E Select with it’s 470km range on a single motor powered by a 71kWh battery.

Fans of speed will want for the GT and it’s 3.7 second 0-100 time, but that comes at a price both financially and in range.

Competitor wise, Ford is backing their brand here it seems, with prices well in excess of the “similarly” suited Tesla Model Y which is selling like hot-cakes.

You can pick one of them up for $69,300 with a similar or slightly lower range than the Select, $82,000 for the long range offering 533km range, or $95,000 for the Performance which has Mach-E GT level speeds, and better range.

We think Ford is simply banking on a large part of the market just not wanting to touch a Tesla, and putting faith in the Mustang and Blue Oval brands.

No real talk of supply numbers, so Ford is unlikely to challenge Tesla on sales quantity, but on desirability – it’s Mustang Mach-E for me every day of the week.
