Lenovo launches Legion 9i gaming laptop with Mini-LED display and self-contained liquid cooling

Alongside their new handheld Lenovo Legion Go gaming device, Lenovo has also announced their latest flagship gaming laptop, the Legion 9i.

Set to arrive at the end of October, the Lenovo Legion 9i is the world’s first 16-inch gaming laptop with a self-contained liquid-cooling system.  There’s plenty of power to cool down too, with the Legion 9i including a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, up to 64GB Overclocked 5600Mhz Dual Channel DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of PCIe (Gen 4) SSD storage.

The Legion 9i includes a 16-inch Lenovo PureSight 3.2K Mini-LED in 16:10 with 94% screen-to-body ratio. The display is primed for gaming and creators with 165Hz variable refresh rate, and support for both DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces.

The Legion Coldfront integrated liquid-cooling system is big news for the laptop allowing for improved cooling, and letting the Lenovo Legion team push the 9i output up to 230W TDP. There’s also an AI-tuned triple-fan air-cooling system working alongside the liquid cooling.

There’s been some neat engineering to offset the additional weight of the liquid-cooling system, with Lenovo using a new process for creating the cover. Each cover is forged from carbon chips creating a unique design that looks awesome.

As you can see there’s plenty of connectivity with HDMI, Ethernet, USB Type A and TYpe C ports, an audio jack and a full sized SD Card slot. Lovers of RGB lighting will also love the strips around the keyboard and bottom covers, as well as in the TrueStrike Keyboard.

There’s a big 99.99Whr battery on-board with support for charging via a 140W USB-C charger or 330W ‘Slim’ adapter – both of which are included in the box.

So….when can you get one, and how much will it be? Well, Lenovo Australia says the Legion 9i is due down under in late October starting at $8,999.
