Nissan Z NISMO now part of the line-up after first 100 cars sold out in 53 minutes

The flagship NISMO edition is now a permanent part of the Nissan Z sports-car range locally after the first 100 examples sold out in 53 minutes during an online promotion late last year.

About 50 of the first 100 cars are already in customer driveways, while the remainder are due to be delivered shortly.

Due to the overwhelming demand, Nissan Australia has made the NISMO edition a permanent part of the Nissan Z line-up.

The regular Nissan Z (with manual or automatic transmission) is still available, however the ‘Proto’ launch edition – which was distinguished by gold wheels and yellow brake calipers – has long since sold out.

For those who might have missed it, the NISMO (short for Nissan Motorsport) edition is the most powerful model in the Z range.

The twin turbo 3.0-litre V6 has an extra 11kW and 45Nm for a total output of 309kW and 520Nm.

The engine is paired to a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic (here’s a top tip, the auto is waaay quicker, sorry about that stick-shift fans) and powers the rear wheels, which makes for quite the handful with such a short wheelbase.

Here’s a quick recap on the key differences on the Nissan Z NISMO compared to the standard Nissan Z:

  • $94,000 (RRP before on-road costs such as registration and stamp duty);
  • Power increased to 309kW (+11kW) and 520Nm (+45Nm);
  • NISMO-tuned nine-speed automatic with paddle shifters;
  • NISMO aerodynamic enhancements;
  • Gloss black Rays 19-inch wheels (0.5-inch wider front and rear, and XXkg lighter).
  • Enhanced Engine cooling;
  • Bigger front brake rotors (+25mm);
  • NISMO Sport+ Driving Mode;
  • NISMO-tuned Launch Control;
  • NISMO-tuned Active Sound Control;
  • NISMO tuned suspension;
  • NISMO branded Recaro seats;
  • Heated and powered front seats not available on Z NISMO
