ReachOut, Level Up is a week-long streaming initiative to raise funds for youth mental health

Mental health is a big issue for everyone and now that the stigma surrounding it is starting to be eroded it is important that programs to help folks deal with mental health challenges are funded appropriately.

ReachOut, Level Up is a new initiative from ReachOut Australia, a program that helps young Australians going through mental health issues “openly express themselves, get a deeper understanding and perspective on what’s happening in their lives.” They connect those struggling with people who will provide judgement-free support to help them build the type of resilience and techniques to manage the challenges life throws at them now and in the future.

From August 25th to 31st, ReachOut Australia will be hosting its first ever ReachOut, Level Up streaming initiative, which aims to bring together streamers and ambassadors from around the nation to help raise funds and awareness for crucial youth mental health support programs in Australia.

Currently up to 40% of Australian youths experience mental health challenges and with suicide the leading cause of death among 14 – 25 year olds, funding for programs such as ReachOut Australia is extremely important.

ReachOut, Level Up aims to not just raise funds but also highlight the importance of these sort of programs in the community. It is a week-long event that will be hosted on Twitch with a diverse lineup of streamers but all are encouraged to get involved, whether it is with the streaming of a game, an arts and crafts tutorial or just getting involved in the chat rooms.

We recognise that after friends and family, the internet is often the first place young people turn to for support when experiencing mental health difficulties. We know that a large portion of young people are both online and gaming, so we are excited to launch this fundraiser to build awareness of ReachOut’s services and connect with these young gamers where they are,” said Tracey Campbell, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at ReachOut. “By partnering with Twitch streamers, we aim to create awareness among their audiences that there is a safe space available if they’re going through tough times or looking for that extra support.

Those of us who are a long way past being a youth can also get involved, donate time or money to help out simply by contacting ReachOut Australia or tune in to Twitch from August 25 to 31st. Sign up now to partake in the event at the fundraising link here.
