Alienware has come out swinging at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, with new monitors, laptops and desktops with the two former bearing the return of the Area-51 moniker.
In a bid to reclaim the crown of the ultimate gaming experience, Alienware has turned to its past, using the Area-51 moniker for its new gaming desktops and laptops.
The new Area-51 Desktop is a big 80L tower designed for premium performance in a scalable design. Its 600W of dedicated graphics power and up to 280W of dedicated processing power allows it to support the highest-quality components, including the latest from NVIDIA and up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU.
All components included are industry standard, which means they can be swapped out and customised to your specific requirements.
The new Area-51 desktop’s design includes many choices regarding thermal architecture and airflow, which help maintain low temperatures and noise while gaming at high levels.
The desktop uses a pressurised passive exhaust to expel heat out the back of the chassis. Although there are no specific exhaust fans, there are fans inside to create airflow around the graphics card, CPU, and memory. Liquid cooling options also create greater internal air pressure than outside, thus expelling air out the back of the case.
Possible config inclusions are:
Local pricing and availability are unknown at this stage but is expected to arrive in late Q1.
The new 16- and 18-inch Area-51 laptops offer premium performance across the range with a focus purely on performance while still offering a sleek design language.
They can deliver up to 280W of power to a next-gen NVIDIA graphics card and have a robust thermal design that allows up to 35% more air to pass through the system while also being 15% quieter.
Aurora lighting effects are also included, along with a translucent thermal shelf, a clear Gorilla Glass window underneath, and RGB fans to deliver the RGB gaming effects expected of high-end gaming laptops.
With XMP memory capable of speeds of up to 7200 MT/s you can be sure of premium performance with the new Area-51 laptops from Alienware.
The Area-51 laptops are expected to arrive later in Q1 in various configurations, although local pricing and exact time are unknown at this stage.
The new Alienware 27 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor adds to their already impressive QD-OLED monitor lineup offering “the world’s highest pixels per inch in any OLED or QD-OLED monitor1, providing gamers with unparalleled visual clarity, speed and immersion.”
The new resolution of the 27-inch display has an impressive pixel density of 166 PPI and delivers a 240Hz refresh rate, impressive colour accuracy, and an infinite contrast ratio, resulting in a sharp, responsive, and vibrant display. With DCI-P3 99% colour coverage, you can also be sure the colours on the screen are accurate.
The monitor is expected to arrive in Australia around April 2025. The local pricing has not been revealed, but for reference, it will cost US$899.99 in the US.
