The Spoon That Enhances Salty Taste in Food goes on Display at CES2025

Kirin Holdings Company is a beverage company out of Japan and has made an appearance at the exclusive Unveiled Event in the lead up to CES2025 to announce a new product from their Health Science Division. It’s the Electric Salt Spoon, a spoon that uses a small electrical pulse to enhance salt taste in food.

Our average daily intake of salt is well above the recommended daily intake and for many people the tastiness of food is not something they’re not prepared to compromise on. This is where the Electric Salt Spoon comes into its own.

The spoon is a tableware type device that is equipped with the smarts to enhance the salty taste of food without the need to add actual salt. The electric current in the spoon is passed from the tip of the spoon to the food to enhance the taste of the meal. Users can select their preferred intensity from the four available levels.

Their first iteration was a chopsticks-like device, so this new product is set to become a little more mainstream. Will it actually become mainstream? Time will tell.
