Samsung’s 2025 A Series phones announced with a sprinkle of AI and continued great pricing

You could see this as bargain phone time of the year, but in fact it’s a critical time for the mobile market with millions of Australians choosing phones under $1000 as their primary device. Samsung has announced their A Series phones for 2025 as we head into Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

While there is already a Samsung Galaxy A16 device on sale in Australia todays announcement covers the bulk of the lineup with three devices, the A26, A36 and A56.

With prices from $499 to $699 it’s perhaps the most important part of the mobile market, why? Over $1,000 people are locked into an ecosystem – they’ve made their choice. Under $1,000 and every buyer is a prospect for every single brand.

There’s no sign of “Galaxy AI” in the A series as there is on the S25 and Z series phones from Samsung, instead you’ll see references to “Awesome Intelligence” – yet another way to explain what AI means. In simple terms, the AI on the A series is simple, frankly it’s the main stuff people are using – things like Circle to Search, their AI Select and even Song Search which will identify the music you’re hearing at the touch of a button.

The boss of Samsung Mobile TM Roh says “The new Galaxy A series marks an important step in our mission of AI for all, by opening Galaxy’s incredible mobile AI experiences to even more people around the world,” said . “With these awesome new features and capabilities, we are excited to unlock limitless creativity on the Galaxy A series while ensuring a safe, reliable and fun mobile experience.” 

All three devices feature the same main 50MP camera, the differences are stepping up the quality of the zoom or ultra wide angle from device to device.

The A56 will also get the camera feature found on S25 called Best Face – so if that group shot never features everyone smiling, find the face smiling in another from the group of shots – and boom, it’s merged into one.

Plus, all three devices have the Object Eraser for those tweaks once you look back at your shots.

Samsung is promising six generations of Android and their own One UI updates – this is staggering peace of mind for owners even at this low price.

The 5,000mAh battery is a bonus, with the A36 and A56 featuring 45W charging capabilities for those wanting a faster charge.

Telling the three apart is hard, they are all the same size, but the A56 is the only one with the true metal frame, and it stands out – in a really good way.

All these new Galaxy A series devices will go on sale on March 27, with the A26 at $499, the A36 at $549 and the A56 for $699
