Roborock announced their F25 series of wet/dry vacuums in February and they sent the F25 Ace over for us to check out.
The F25 series, which comprises the F25 and F25 Ace, offers an impressive list of specs for keeping your home clean. The models offer similar options, with the F25 Ace also including Roborock’s SlideTech 2.0 motorised wheels, an auto-detergent dispenser and app customisation.
The Roborock F25 launched in Australia on the 15th of February for $699, while the F25 ACE launched last month for $999.
I’ve been using the Roborock F25 Ace for a month and here’s how it went.
The Roborock F25 Ace comes with everything you could need to get up and running fast.
You get the vacuum body with a handle you insert with a satisfying snap – though getting it off again can be stiff if you need to repack it. The roller came pre-installed, and the only thing left to install is the cleaning solution, and filter for the top of the dirty water tank.
You do get a paper user manual you can open and read, but as usual you can find it on-line on the Roborock support site – as well as a link from the app to the product guide.
For setup, you plug the power cable (looks like a standard PC/kettle cord) into the drying & charging dock then place the F25 Ace onto it to start charging – though mine had about 50% charge out of the box.
While charging I filled the clean water tank which sits on the top of the vacuum head, but easily comes off when you release the catch. While filling it you can fill the supplied cleaning solution into the compartment next to it – it’s all pretty easy. The tank of the F25 Ace is slightly smaller than the F25 to accommodate the solution dispenser, however I had no issues seeing the water level through the clear plastic.
The dirty water tank is located in the body and has a nice snug fit with a secure button holding it in place, though it’s easy to release when you press that button and there’s a flip out handle to also help you get it out.
I love the dirty water tank inner workings, with a filter built-in that traps larger mess letting you easily dump it in a bin rather than risking it run down the drain and clog.
While I haven’t gone through the supplied sample of cleaning solution, and thanks to the heated water self-clean function on the dock, I also haven’t dirtied the roller sufficiently to require replacement in a month of use – but let’s see what the ongoing costs are.
The recommended fluid seems to be the Roborock Omo Floor Cleaner Fluid which comes in a 480ml bottle for $39.90.
The Rollers are easily removed with a ringpull that flips up, letting you easily slide it out and then slide a new, or clean one one. The roller can be cleaned, with Roborock recommending you do this at least every three months. If you do need to replace them, they don’t appear to be on the Roborock AU store as yet, but Amazon has your back for the rollers which go for $92 for a 2-pack.
It doesn’t appear that you need to replace the filter on the dirty water tank, with the manual advising to use the provided maintenance brush to clean it out as required – so that’s one less thing you need to replace.
While you don’t need an app to run the Roborock F25 Ace, there is one and it’s available for both Android and iOS.
The app helps with things like firmware updates, as well as letting you customise the voice and dock behaviour when you dock the F25 Ace – or just see settings while it’s cleaning or cleaning itself.
The dock options let you set whether you auto-clean each time, set the scale of cleaning, temp of the water and whether it dries fast or quiet – a real consideration considering it does get a little loud on the fast mode.
The best for me is adjusting the settings, ranging from setting the sponge mode and Auto mode settings – letting you find the best settings for your floors and have it hit it every time. As well as how hard the ‘Smart Active Drive Wheels’ go when you’re cleaning.
Official specs list a 4000mAh battery in the Roborock F25 Ace, which they say lasts up to 60 minutes in Eco mode, 40 minutes in Auto – while it takes up to four hours to charge.
The reality is pretty good. We have a decently sized 4-br home with hard floors in most of the living areas. I cleaned the entire lot from top to bottom moving from Auto to Max mode with no issues on the longevity of the battery.
You can keep an eye on the battery status on the LED display, as well as in the app.
Though it does take a long time to fully charge, with the 4-hours listed by Roborock pretty accurate – it hasn’t been an issue. Even while charging the unit generally has enough for you to quickly clean a mess, or use Sponge mode to soak up a spill and get it back to the dock.
I’m no stranger to the upright cleaners on the market and the Roborock F25 Ace is up there as one of the best.
All the controls you need – well, except for in the app – are on the handle, with the LED display showing the current mode (Eco|Sponge|Auto|Max).
Powering on the unit with the power button, in the middle you can cycle through the modes using the cycle button at the top. The cleaning mode button at the bottom starts the cleaning mode manually once docked – if you haven’t enabled auto self-clean in the app.
As far as cleaning goes, the vacuum has 20,000 Pa suction power, with the roller able to spin at up to 450 RPM making it a cleaning beast.
With a puppy, and three people including a teenager in the house, there’s a lot of spills and it’s a job to keep it clean. The Roborock F25 Ace is absolute perfection for me on this front.
It cleans up random food spills including pancake batter, coffee, both liquid and ground and other household mess with ease. It’s even made cleaning up the odd accident from the puppy easier in the mornings.
The SlideTech 2.0 tech makes cleaning so much easier, dual brushless motors allow for individual control of each wheel making it super manoeuvrable when combined with the head which has a 70° swivel, letting you easily get around furniture and other obstacles.
The open design of the roller on the front gives it edge-to-edge cleaning, letting you get into the tightest of corners and really clean along those hard to get edges that even the most zealous of robot vacuums seem to miss.
The only feature I’d love to see included would be a light on the front – but the water tank and roller mounted on the head do limit options here.
One of the cooler features though is the Flat Reach 2.0 mode which sees you lay the unit flat, letting the F25 Ace get in under furniture with just 12.5cm clearance – this lets it clean almost everywhere and this alone is a winner in my house.
You can clean manually in this lay-flat mode without the app but bending over and guiding it was a bit much for my back and this gave me another option. Remote Control mode. You can find this option in the app, then lay the F25 Ace flat and guide it underneath furniture.
It works super well cleaning under lounges and other low-slung furniture and it has a decent turning circle despite the handle at the back. The only thing it doesn’t do well is reverse, with the wheels not able to get much traction on the wet floor – but it was fairly easy to just pull it back, with the SlideTech motors on the wheels helping here.
Easy to use, powerful, self-cleaning, self-propelled and able to get into hard to reach places, Roborock have really delivered with the Roborock F25 Ace.
This is a premium offering for anyone wanting to keep their floors clean. It really adds to any household with hard floors, from a small apartment, all the way up to a full family home.
It’s a great addition to any cleaning setup. I’ve been using it in conjunction with a number of robot vacuums during the review period – and it adds another level, keeping up easily with spills and any hard to remove stains that even the most premium robot cleaners can’t quite remove.
If you want to check it out, the Roborock F25 Ace is priced at $999 RRP and you can head to Roborock’s Official Online Store, or check it out at their Authorised Retailers.
