Fujifilm unveil the new “X Half” camera, inspired by half-frame cameras

Fujifilm Australia has announced the launch of the “X half” compact digital camera, part of their X Series of camera, this one inspired by half-frame cameras.

The X half camera offers new opportunities for creative expression with a 2-in-1 option popular with old half-frame cameras. It features a rear 3:4 aspect ratio LCD monitor aligned with the sensor’s orientation, making it perfect for vertical shooting, which is popular these days with many social media apps.

The camera includes a 2-in-1 feature, which allows the photographer to combine two images or movies into one composition for richer storytelling.

The new X half camera also includes an optical viewfinder, giving it the retro feel of a film camera. Fujifilm’s “Film Simulations” and “Grain Effect” reproduce the look of old-school film photos, bringing back more memories.

The X half looks like a classic camera in a lightweight, compact body, weighing just 240 grams. This means that the camera can be taken anywhere and be ready to shoot anywhere, at any time.

The X half features a 1-inch back-illuminated sensor and a 32mm F2.8 (35mm equivalent) prime lens, providing clear image quality in a compact, lightweight design. Combined with Fujifilm’s unique colour reproduction technology, the feel and look of the film camera have been created for nostalgic enthusiasts as well as young creators and more.

The camera is connected to your smartphone using Bluetooth and the “X half” app, which allows the user to view, share, and print photos taken with the X half camera. Printing is also a breeze through Instax Link series smartphone printers.

“With the introduction of the X half, we want to show our users that the feelings of nostalgia should not be a distant memory but should be embraced and shared by all. The new filters, such as light leak and expired film, will add to those feelings. The new dedicated X half app will make sharing your creations easier than ever before. There are two sides to every story, and I am looking forward to seeing what our users create with the new 2-in-1 mode”

Shaun Mah, General Manager of the Electronic Imaging & Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM Australia.

The Fujifilm X half camera includes a host of features inspired by film photography, ideal for the enthusiast looking to capture the old style with the new hardware. For more information, head on over to https://fujifilm-houseofphotography.com.au/pages/fujifilm-x-half.
