For the first time since Kayo Sports launched in 2018 the cheapest priced plan is going up in price. EFTM can confirm the yet to be announced news that the entry level Kayo plan will be going up $5 to $30 per month, with the “Premium” plan staying at $40.
There’s no question about the quality of content on Kayo and our reliance on it in the modern streaming age, but as prices of “everything” impact our overall cost-of-living there’s no doubt this change will impact hundreds of thousands of Aussies.
If half of all Kayo Subscribers are on the “Standard” or entry level $25 per month plan, this will be a $48 million boost to the annual Foxtel coffers under new owners DAZN.
As we’ve said before, the likelihood is people will suck it up and absorb this change because – we love our sport – but there has to be a tipping point.
The $5 increase will kick in from June, with subscribers set to be notified over the weeks ahead as to when it will apply to their monthly renewal, but the price rise is for new and existing customers.
