While the MacBook Air is only just getting the latest generation M5 Apple SIlicone, the MacBook Pro range is now getting a more powerful chip adding outstanding performance to the high performance laptop.
The all-new M5 Pro and M5 Max chip feature the world’s fastest CPU Core as well as a new generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core.
Apple say this will offer up to four times the on-device AI performance, and up to eight times more than the M1 models.
“MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max redefines what’s possible on a pro laptop, now up to 4x faster than the previous generation,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “With Neural Accelerators in the GPU, the new MacBook Pro enables professionals to run advanced LLMs on device and unlock capabilities that no other laptop can do — all while maintaining exceptional battery life. Combined with even faster unified memory and storage, it empowers users to take their work even further, unleashing new possibilities and pushing the boundaries of what they can do.”
The standard MacBook Pro with M5 is still available at $2,699, while the new M5 Pro chip on board will set you back $3,499 and the high performance M5 Max will be a whopping $5,799.
Both are on pre-sale this week, and available next week on March 11.
