Garmin, leader in GPS fitness tracking, has announced a new, affordable set of watches with the release of the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 watches, bringing the core Forerunner training technology to more people at an affordable price.
The Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 include a host of features with both watches sporting a 1.2-inch AMOLED touch display and come with what Garmin call ‘a traditional 5-button design’ allowing for ease of use.
The Forerunner 170 steps it up, adding in NFC with Garmin Pay for contactless payments, so you can grab a drink on the go. You can also check out the Forerunner 170 Music, a slightly upgraded model of the Forerunner 170 which includes the option to download your music to on-board storage and connect your headphones.
The watches include long battery life – so no need to charge every night, with the Forerunner 70 including up to 13 days of battery life, while the Forerunner 170 and Forerunner 170 Music offer up to 10 days of battery life.
The Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 include built-in GPS, time, distance, pace and wrist-based heart rate monitoring. You can even check heart rate variability (HRV) status, Pulse Ox and log all your sleep data with Sleep Tracking and a sleep coach to help improve your score.
You can use the new Forerunner 70 and 170 to train using new quick workouts which are tailored to your fitness level, you just set the time and intensity to start. You can also use the Garmin Coach training plans, which adapt to your daily fitness and recovery to improve your results.
