This weekend could quite possibly be one of the best weekends on the box for fans of motorsport this year.  The combination of the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix in our timezone, the possibility of an Aussie World Champion being crowned in Europe and the 50th anniversary Bathurst 1000 makes for one heck of a good weekend to get comfy on the couch.

EFTM has your complete viewing guide.

There are a couple of moments when you need to flick between channels to get the full experience but you won’t need to miss a moment of the key action with the big events working almost perfectly back to back.

It kicks off on Channel 7 at Midday Saturday with coverage from Mount Panorama, all leading up to the Top Ten shootout in the late afternoon.

Before you get to the shootout though you’ll need to flick back to ONE HD for the Formula One Qualifying.  Coverage starts with Rusty and the boys from 2.30pm, with actual qualifying running from 3pm-4pm.  The Bathurst 1000 Top Ten Shootout commences at 4.30pm.

Get to bed early, and if you don’t have Foxtel – stay with a friend who does.  Set your alarm for 3am when SPEED TV’s coverage of the Polish GP – the final round of the Speedway Grand Prix series.  Australian Chris Holder has a slim two point lead and will race at his “home” track in Poland for a chance at the World Title.  If you’ve never watched Speedway Solo Motorcycle racing, this will be the one to watch. 500cc Motorcycles on an oval circuit with no brakes – these blokes are crazy and it’s must watch.

Grab a quick nap before a late breakfast, ready for the 10.30am start to the Big race – the Bathurst 1000.  Channel 7 has coverage from 7am.

161 laps later the big one will wrap up just around 5pm – in perfect timing to switch back to ONE HD for Live coverage of the Japanese Formula One Grand Prix.  Two hours, then dinner and bed – you’ll be exhausted!

A Cracker weekend on the box for rev heads!
