Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercar driver James Moffat is set to make his debut on the international stage at the Dubai 24 hour race in early January driving a Nissan 370Z.
Moffat’s participation in the race driving for the championship-winning Nissan GT Academy Team RJN is the first occassion where an Aussie driver has been used in the NISMO global driver exchange program which allows drivers associated with the Nissan brand globally to compete around the world – so it’s a big deal for James and a chance to strut his stuff and get a little out of his comfort zone.
Among the five drivers in the car is another name known to motorsport fans around the world – Karun Chandhok who raced for HRT and Lotus in the 2010 and 2011 F1 seasons. In the second GT Academy car will be the Playstation kid Lucas Ordonez who recently visited Australia and got behind the wheel of the Nissan V8 Supercar at a test day.
So it’s all going well as a global program for Nissan and we’ll all be eyes on James Moffat and his co-drivers as they hit the endurance event at the Dubai Autodrome January 9-11 next year.
