Imagine being the Top Gear social media manager – this is what they’re putting up with

Just a few months ago it would have been a dream job for anyone who loves cars, TV and Social Media.  Managing the Social Media activity for the world’s biggest TV show – Top Gear.  But things aren’t so great these days.

Jeremy Clarkson created worldwide headlines after a dust-up with one of the hit shows producers, which after a long investigation resulted in the BBC opting not to renew the contract of one of its biggest stars.  Clarkson would no longer front Top Gear.

At the same time, his co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May have stayed absent, so the show has simply not gone on.

Are the fans upset?  Yes.  Plenty signed a petition to have Clarkson re-instated – that was never going to have an effect, so one wonders why they now are taking the action their taking against the show online.

Whenever something is posted on Facebook to the 14 million “fans” of Top Gear the comments are overwhelmed by one thing:

“Bring Back Clarkson, May, And Hammond Bring Back Clarkson, May, And Hammond”

Over, and over, and over again.

Like this:

And this:

And this:

Yep, they are a persistent bunch, must be hard for the Social Media team to cope with – one wonders how long this will go on for.
