Garmin updates it's Vivofit and Vivoactive range at MWC

Two new fitness bands were announced today by Garmin at Mobile World Congress, with the vivoactive HR and vivofit 3 adding to an already impressive range of wearables produced by the company.

Garmin’s Aussie General Manger Matt DeMoss says “The vívoactive HR builds on the incredible versatility and multi-functionality of its predecessor by adding wrist-based heart rate and a barometric altimeter – allowing it to track even more data essential to workouts and day-to-day activity. All your efforts to stay active are accounted for from taking the stairs at the office to going on a run or ride,”

Adding; “Our latest edition vivofit, the vívofit 3, has once again set itself apart from the pack as a leader in fitness tracking technology. Key features include a one-year battery life, water resistance and new developments like Move IQ to offer a full package to people wanting to take a step toward a healthier lifestyle.”

Lets take a quick look at them both:

vivoactive HR

Taking from the Garmin wearable heritage, the Vivoactive HR features sports apps for walking, running, biking, swimming, golfing, rowing, skiing, snowboarding and even paddle boarding!

As the name indicates there’s a wrist based Heart rate monitor on board so you’re getting the best possible data from your wearable.

The vívoactive HR will begin shipping to Australia in April and will set you back $399 in the standard black band, while an accessory band in white, yellow, and red will be an extra $49.

Taking the heritage of the original vivofit, the third generation adds a new intelligent “Move IQ” which can automatically detect activity and intensity minutes, allowing it to differentiate walking, running, biking, swimming and other training.

These things aren’t just a simple fitness band either, designed to be worn all day they are water resistant to 50 meters and of course have that remarkable one-year battery life.

The vívofit 3 will begin shipping to Australia in the next month or two and will come with a black and white band for $159 in regular size, $169 for extra large.

As with previous Garmin Vivifies, there are also accessory bands available for $49 in two colour packs including marsala and white, slate and borealis, slate and marsala, camo and orange, and pink camo and white.
