Hisense launches flagship ULED TVs in Australia

Australia’s Number 3 TV brand just upped the ante on the on the TV market in 2016 with the launch of its 2016 range of ULED TVs which bring new technology to their range at what I could only describe as amazing prices.

I saw these TVs in January at CES, they look fantastic, but of course in any big flashy display they’re going to look great.

Hisense Director of Product Management Chris Porter told EFTM this week that the new ULED range was the result of a large amount of development work which included patents on new technologies to end with a product offering the richest colours and darkest blacks possible from LED.

There’s little doubt from listening to the team at Hisense talk that this TV has LG’s OLED in its sights.  There’s also no question that the OLED from LG is the better picture by the pixel.  But is that enough to convince consumers to pay the huge price premium for OLED?  And at the same time Hisense has moved away from the Curved TV trend looking to put its eggs into a premium flat product.

Looking at the Series 7 ULED tonight at their gala launch at the Formula 1 Grand Prix (Where Hisense have increased their corporate presence over recent years), the picture and quality is excellent.

We’ll wait until we’ve had it in a more open environment to test it more comprehensively but viewing it in a similar way to that which many consumers will at a retail store – it’s very impressive.

Along with the great picture is a fantastic design.  Sleek, simplistic with a brushed metal approach this has a real premium look and feel to it.

Andre Iannuzzi, Head of Marketing at Hisense Australia, was understandably confident about the product’s future in Australia “Hisense 4K ULED is the most significant technology evolution in television picture quality Hisense has ever developed, a position we move into with confidence. ULED technology is proof of Hisense’s unwavering commitment to providing the most outstanding picture quality with the latest technology that consumers have come to demand and deserve from Hisense.”

The range hits retail stores in May, and will come in a vast array of sizes from 50 inches up to 75!

Perhaps the most impressive thing are the prices:

  • 75in – $4999
  • 70in – $3999
  • 65in – $3499
  • 55in – $1999
  • 50in – $1499

And those are RRP’s – with a range of retailers from Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Bing Lee and others you’d expect some solid price competitiveness too.

Well worth a look.  Full review soon.
